...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO
10 PM PST THURSDAY...

* WAVES AND SURF...Breaking waves of 25 to 30 feet along west
  and northwest facing beaches.

* IMPACTS...Large breaking waves along the coast will lead to
  increased wave run-up on beaches with waves topping and
  washing over large rocks and jetties. These large waves can be
  erratic and unpredictable. Use extra caution near the surf
  zone as these large waves will be capable of sweeping people
  into the frigid and turbulent ocean water. Mariners traversing
  the bar are urged to exercise extreme caution especially
  during max ebb which is predicted to occur around noon on
  Thursday to 600 PM on Thursday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Warning indicates that dangerous, battering wave will
pound the shoreline. This will result in very dangerous swimming
conditions, and deadly rip currents.

...DAMAGING WARNING LEVEL SURF LIKELY FOR THE CENTRAL COAST
BEGINNING THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

.Strong storms in the Gulf of Alaska have created a series of
long period west-northwest swells that will move through the
Southwest California Coastal Waters this week. The large swells
will bring an extended period of high surf to area beaches through
Saturday evening. The largest and most energetic swell is
expected to arrive to the Central Coast by Thursday afternoon,
likely bringing damaging warning level surf of 20 feet or greater.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST THURSDAY...
...HIGH SURF WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO 8 PM PST
SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
High Surf Warning, which is in effect from noon Thursday to 8 PM
PST Saturday.

* SURF AND TIMING...High surf ranging between 10 and 16 feet will
  continue along the Central Coast through Wednesday night...with
  local sets as high as 18 feet through tonight. Another round of
  even larger and potentially damaging surf is expected to peak
  Thursday afternoon into Friday. During this time, breakers of
  15 to 20 feet will be common with locally higher sets possible.

* Impacts...Large, powerful, and dangerous waves with strong
  currents will create an increased risk in drownings. Sneaker
  waves can suddenly wash over previously dry beaches and jetties.
  There will be also a high risk of life-threatening rip currents.
  From Thursday afternoon into Friday, there is an increased
  threat of damaging surf and beach erosion, with breaking waves
  into the Morro Bay Harbor, and local flooding of low lying beach
  parking lots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught
in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the
current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If
unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

will pound the shoreline. This will result in life-threatening
conditions.

...Extremely high and dangerous surf conditions late Wednesday
   through Friday night...

.Gale to storm force winds over the coastal waters Wednesday
will be followed by very high westerly swell. Surf will increase
dramatically beginning Wednesday evening, with breaker heights
peaking at 30 to 35 feet Thursday. Surf will remain elevated
Thursday night through Friday night before gradually subsiding
this weekend.

...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY TO
   7 AM PST SATURDAY...

* Waves and Surf...Breaker heights will increase to 25 to 30 ft
  Wednesday night and peak at 30 to 35 ft Thursday. Surf will then
  begin to subside, but will remain elevated Thursday night
  through Friday night.

* Timing...A long period of dangerous surf conditions is
  expected. Breaker heights will be commonly above 25 feet for
  more than 48 hours Wednesday night through Friday night. Surf
  conditions will be at their worst late Wednesday night through
  Thursday.

* Impacts...Waves will run up much higher on the beaches than
  normal. These waves will be powerful and can sweep people off
  jetties and other exposed rocks. They can also easily move
  large logs and other beach debris. Bar crossings and the surf
  zone will be especially dangerous due to strong currents and
  breaking waves.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Surf Warning indicates that dangerous, battering waves
will pound the shoreline. This will result in life-threatening
conditions. Stay off jetties and piers since they can be quickly
inundated by the heavy surf. Or...better yet...just stay away.
